Talking about research

We have had a busy start to the year! In January, Jacki shared some of the Fabulous Femininities journey with our colleagues at the School of Performance and Cultural Industries at Leeds. She spoke about the relationships that have been formed during her journey on the project and also discussed the Fabulous Femininities documentary – a short film which spent most of 2024 gaining laurels and awards at independent film festivals around the world. (By the way, if you’d like to find out more about the film, then you can see reviews here on Letterboxd and add it to your own ‘to be watched’ list).

Jacki then headed off to the Night Time Industries Summit in Birmingham at the start of February to talk about inclusive approaches to night-time safety. The summit was attended by night time industry professionals from across the world and it was lovely to share the work of Fabulous Femininities and our remarkable partners with this audience.

In the background, we’ve also been speaking to a lot of people and making new friends in preparation for our big event in March. Several of our local politicians have expressed support for our work – be that letters of support, in person meetings, or introductions to other interested parties – which is all really exciting. There are a lot of people doing valuable work around inclusivity in our area and one of the great joys of this event will be the chance to bring many of them together in one room. If you’re interested and we’ve not yet had a chat, please do get in touch! We’d love to hear from you.
